Project Description:
After opening its first location during the 2018-2019 school year, the original W.E.B. Dubois Academy’s student enrollment increased so much annually, JCPS needed to accommodate by building a new facility off Poplar Level Road on the campus of Thomas Jefferson Middle School. The new school will be a combined middle and high school for more than 1,000 students, costing around $68 million to construct. Furnished with 65 classrooms on three floors and two separate gyms, one for middle schoolers and one for high schoolers, this will be the first high school JCPS has built since 1968. Future additions to the campus include a stadium with a running track and turf sports field, along with a grass middle school soccer field, a field house, concession stands, and shot put, pole vault, and discus throw sections.

Mindel Scott’s Tasks:
Mindel Scott was responsible for the schematic design, design development, construction design documents, community facility review, construction administration, and the site survey with utility locates.
