    Mindel Scott, a multidisciplinary civil engineering, surveying, planning, and landscape architecture firm serving the Louisville region for more than 30 years, is seeking a motivated Land Surveying Associate to join our team.

    This position is designed for an emerging surveying professional who has completed, or is nearing completion of, the educational requirements needed to pursue Land Surveyor-in-Training certification and eventual professional licensure. The selected candidate will gain well-rounded experience by working both in the field and in the office under the guidance of experienced surveying professionals.

    This is more than a field crew position. We are looking for someone who wants to build a long-term career in land surveying, embrace emerging technology, and grow into a future leadership role within our survey department. A key growth opportunity for this position will be taking ownership of developing Mindel Scott’s in-house drone surveying program.

    What You’ll Do

    • Perform fieldwork for boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, construction staking, and other types of surveys
    • Locate and accurately survey property monuments, improvements, utilities, and other relevant site features
    • Operate GPS equipment, robotic total stations, data collectors, levels, and other surveying technology
    • Record accurate field measurements and notes while properly maintaining survey equipment
    • Use AutoCAD and Civil 3D to process field data and prepare survey drawings
    • Assist with boundary resolution, survey calculations, legal descriptions, and the preparation of record plats, minor plats, easement plats, ALTA/NSPS surveys, and other survey documents
    • Conduct deed, plat, property, and courthouse research
    • Coordinate with in-house surveyors, engineers, planners, landscape architects, utility designers, and CAD technicians
    • Help develop and lead our drone surveying program, including evaluating equipment and software, establishing workflows, collecting and processing drone data, and sharing knowledge with the team
    • Research and help implement new technology and workflows that improve accuracy, efficiency, safety, and project capabilities

    What We’re Looking For

    • Completed or nearing completion of a degree or educational program that supports eligibility for LSIT certification and professional land surveyor licensure
    • Interest in obtaining LSIT certification and ultimately becoming a licensed Professional Land Surveyor
    • Strong interest in both field and office surveying
    • Previous surveying, fieldwork, internship, AutoCAD, or Civil 3D experience is preferred but not required
    • Interest in drone surveying and willingness to obtain an FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate; related experience is preferred but not required
    • Comfort learning new technology, developing proficiency, and sharing that knowledge with others
    • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work
    • Self-motivated, reliable, punctual, and willing to take ownership of assigned responsibilities
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to perform physical fieldwork and work outdoors in varying weather and site conditions
    • Valid driver’s license

    Mindel Scott, a multidisciplinary civil engineering, surveying, planning, and landscape architecture firm serving the Louisville region for more than 30 years, is seeking a Landscape Designer to join our team.

    This position is ideal for a recent landscape architecture graduate or early-career professional who wants hands-on experience across both landscape architecture and land planning while building a career toward professional licensure.

    As part of our multidisciplinary team, you will work alongside landscape architects, planners, engineers, surveyors, and other design professionals on residential, commercial, industrial, and other land development projects. You will gain experience with projects from early conceptual planning and zoning through design, permitting, construction documentation, and implementation.

    What You’ll Do

    • Assist with conceptual site layouts and preliminary land planning for residential, commercial, industrial, and other development projects
    • Research and apply zoning ordinances, development regulations, landscape requirements, and other applicable planning criteria
    • Assist with rezoning, development plan, and other planning and zoning submittals
    • Assist with site analysis and conceptual design, including plant selection and preparation of landscape plans, exhibits, graphics, and construction documents
    • Use AutoCAD and Civil 3D to prepare and coordinate plans and design documents
    • Coordinate with Mindel Scott’s in-house engineering, surveying, planning, and landscape architecture teams
    • Assist with agency submittals, review comments, and plan revisions
    • Participate in project meetings and coordination with clients, reviewing agencies, contractors, and other project team members
    • Visit project sites as needed to support planning, design, and construction activities

    What We’re Looking For

    • Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited program
    • Recent graduate or approximately 1–2 years of related professional experience
    • Interest in pursuing professional Landscape Architect licensure
    • Experience with AutoCAD; Civil 3D experience is a plus
    • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office
    • Strong graphic, design, and presentation skills
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Interest in both the creative and technical aspects of land development
    • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary project team
    • Organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and eager to learn
    • Valid driver’s license
