David Mindel Awarded 2023 Commercial REACH Award
Last month, our Co-founder David Mindel received the Louisville Commercial Real Estate Achievement Award. This prestigious accolade is a testament to David’s exceptional contributions, unwavering commitment, and outstanding performance in the field of commercial real estate. Several of our team members attended the event at Churchill Downs to support David in receiving the award, which is given in support of March of Dimes, an organization we are proud to support.

The REACH award recognizes an outstanding individual in the commercial real estate industry who has made impressive achievements both professionally and philanthropically. David has consistently demonstrated a high level of expertise, innovation, and professionalism in all aspects of his work. His ability to navigate complex transactions, develop strategic partnerships, and provide invaluable insights has not only benefited our team but has also left a lasting impact on the industry as a whole.

About David Mindel
David earned his Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Louisville. He partnered with Steve Scott to start their own civil engineering company, Mindel Scott, in 1994. He served as Principal of the company until 2012 when Amanda Smith became the majority owner, making Mindel Scott a Women’s Business Enterprise.
David brings experience in residential, multi-family, commercial, retail and municipal engineering design to Mindel Scott. David’s a seasoned pro at obtaining zoning approval of sites anywhere from 1 acre to 500 acres, which includes working with agencies, utilities, neighbors and neighborhoods, staff of planning and zoning, planning commission members and attorneys. The process of seeing a development when it is just an idea in a developer’s mind through to working with the neighbors, agencies and governmental review agencies for a successful approval is what makes David tick. He likes starting the design process and seeing it through every step of the way to the construction of the development. He greatly enjoys working with and developing the employees at Mindel Scott in every department and seeing them grow every year into better workers, with improved skills and talents.
In his free time, David enjoys playing Fantasy Baseball and has had a team the past 15 years. He enjoys spending time with his family and loves watching college basketball and football. Like any sports fan would, he follows the Louisville Cardinals. He enjoys family trips and hiking with his kids and grandchildren. David has always enjoyed playing war and card games with his late Father-in-law, and now he gets to play the same games with his grandchildren.
