Project Description:
Located in Louisville’s East End, the new Echo Trail Middle School will be 140,500+/- square feet in gross floor area consisting of classrooms, music rooms, a cafeteria, kitchen, a gymnasium, and more. The site is an oasis in terms of environmental education opportunities. The site is adjacent to Beckley Creek Park of the Parklands of Floyds Fork. It also boasts several preserved stands of both mature and early succession trees as well as preserved riparian zones and existing streams.

Mindel Scott’s Tasks:

Mindel Scott was responsible for the Community Facility Review Plan, Surveying, Civil Engineering, and Landscape Architecture portions of the project. That work consisted of surveying, site grading, storm design, detention design, sanitary sewer design, detailed grading of the soccer field, landscape plans, tree preservation plans, easement plat preparation, specifications, and demonstrational bioswale. With interagency and interdisciplinary coordination, the project is on target for the anticipated opening date for the Fall 2023 school year, despite material shortages, material rationing, and a dwindling labor force.
