Applicants must be doctoral students currently enrolled in a law program. Applicants must have completed their second year of law school prior to the start of the summer internship period. Applicants must study law throughout the summer and/or fall 2023 to be eligible. Students have the opportunity to conduct legal research, write legal briefs, participate in policy discussions, and assist in drafting applications, requests for investigations, briefs, and regulatory guidance. We strive to ensure that students have at least one assignment that leads to a sample of writing for their job search. When to apply: For the summer, candidate interviews are completed in March and offers are usually made within a week of an interview. This office participates in Texas Tech University`s full-time internship program during the academic year. These students are interviewed and accepted into the program at least eight months prior to the start date. The San Francisco Regional Attorney`s Office offers temporary positions where articling and third-party articling students work at least 16 hours per week. If necessary, the Regional Law Clerk`s Office works with an external student`s law school to facilitate academic credit. A student intern researches and prepares internal legal notes and court documents relating to a variety of federal labor and labor laws. Interns may also have the opportunity to assist in litigation before administrative judges and federal district courts, attend meetings with client agencies, contact and question witnesses, and help prepare for trial. Where possible, trainees are invited to auditions, testimonies and comparative lectures.
