The career structure of a legal officer within the DLS would begin with a brief assignment as a flight lieutenant after a 3-month SERE course at RAF Cranwell. If the candidate is suitable, he or she is appointed to a standing committee and then promoted by selection. The Royal Air Force Legal Branch (RAFLB) or Directorate Legal Services (DLS) – as it is better known – is the Royal Air Force`s uniformed legal service provider. It consists of lawyers and lawyers qualified in a Commonwealth jurisdiction. DLS is headquartered in RAF High Wycombe.
